    Sengoku 7 20/03 : FW GP 1RD !!!



    The next Sengoku event will be "Sengoku 7" on Friday, March 20 at the Yoyogi Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan and will be the first round of the promotion's featherweight tournament.
    The tournament will feature sixteen fighters under 65 kg (143.3 pounds). In 2008, Jorge Santiago and Satoru Kitaoka won the Sengoku middleweight and lightweight tournaments, respectively, to each earn a spot in the promotion's first championship bouts.

    DREAM will also hold a featherweight tournament beginning in March. DREAM's division will be under 63 kg (138.9 pounds).

    Last year's tournament winners Kitaoka and Santiago's next fights will take place in July or August, and their opponents will be based on upcoming Sengoku fights as well as fan requests.

    Jeff Monson, comento el otro dia en el MMA live que podria luchar con Roger Gracie en el proximo Sengoku en marzo. Seria un muy interesante combate.
    Marlon Sandro, faixa preta de Nova Uniao, ha confirmado su presencia en el GP, asi como la de Hiroyuki Takaya, al menos eso dice tatame

      Takaya deja WEC definitivamente entonces?? una pena, pese a las derrotas, es un tio que siempre mola ve luchar.

      Pequeno para mi ha perdido crédito con su derrota y posterior positivo, seguido de una salida por la puerta de atrás de USA...

        Suena como posible el King Mo vs. Ryo Kawamura! Esta lucha de Mo contra el King of Pancrase LHW, sono para el evento que del 4 de enero, y que se tubo que posponer.

              Ostia, pues yo a Hioki, solo le conozco el record de sherdog, porque si le he visto en algun shooto, la verdad es que no me acuerdo... Pero tomo nota.

                      WVR have announced three new participants for their Featherweight GP. They are Shintaro Ishiwatari and Michihiro Omigawa who fought to a draw in a fight which was supposed to have been a qualification fight for the GP at SHOOTO Tradition 5 in January. And also youngster Seiya Kawahara who could be the next big fighter coming out of Pancrase. He received his first loss in a King Of Pancrase title match in his last fight in December.

                      Ishiwatari is someone to look out for. He lost his first professional fight by cut but has not lost since then. He has a good win over the tough Tenkei Fujimiya in what was a very exciting fight. Kawahara is also a very exciting fighter and is very promising considering his age. Omigawa brings PRIDE & UFC Lightweight division experience with him into the GP. He has already fought two of the currently announced fighters in the field.

                      Update: WVR PR Kokuho said that the remaining 5 participants and the final non-GP fight are planned to be announced early next week.

                      Update #2: Kokuho also said that right now he is thinking about persuading a fighter that he wants participating at any cost. Could it be Yuji Hoshino? Lion Takeshi?
