En cualquier caso, no creo que por mucho que lleve campeones de BJJ se vaya a convertir en un crack del suelo... casi mejor deberia pensar en montárselo como Sherk y hacer mucho suelo con sus compañeros para ir cogiendo nivel. Obviamente nunca está de más tener un preparador en condiciones, pero entendedme, no veo a Lesnar con gi...

As we reported last week, seven-time BJJ world champion and renown Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor Rodrigo "Comprido" Medeiros is working with Brock Lesnar in order to improve Lesnar's submission game for his upcoming battle with Heath Herring at UFC 87.
Comprido took time out yesterday to update our friends over at GracieMag.com about Lesnar's progress and assess his abilities as an MMA fighter. Below are some of the highlights of their conversation:

Comprido On Lesnar's Ground Game:

The guy's a world class wrestler, US champion. It's impossible that he doesn't know anything about fighting on the ground. He has a really good base, and he positions himself well. The guy is always open to learning new things, or in other words, he's the student every teacher wishes they had. Of course there are things to improve and I hope to help him with the Jiu-Jitsu part. Sooner or later he'll have to face Rodrigo Minotauro, who's the best MMA fighter I've ever seen fight. But he's focused on his next fight and is not thinking about that yet. I'm aware of the fact that he's way above average and that I can help him conquer the UFC belt or that of any other event he wishes to compete in.

Comprido On Lesnar's Abilities:

His strength really is extraordinary, he's by far the strongest guy I've ever coached. But he's so aware of that that during training he uses very little strength (which is more than enough). [laughs] Not just anybody becomes wrestling champion of the United States. I think few in MMA wouldn't get taken down by him in seconds.

Comprido On Lesnar's Future:

As I already said, Minotauro is the best fighter I've seen fight, but I think that, with a lot of training and teamwork, Brock can beat anybody.

Se comenta mucho de Lesnar es un top mundial en wrestling o incluso un campeon nacional, pero lo unico que he podido encontrar sobre el, es que tras una exitosisima carrera universitaria como luchador, enseguida se pasó a pro-wrestling coreografiado. Me podeis aclarar esto? Cuando decis top mundial en wrestling os referis al pro wrestling? Porque de ser asi tampoco es que favorezca su curriculum como luchador, y si os referis (o se refieren) a las habilidades como luchador universitario, no es logico pensar que despues de tanto tiempo sin entrenar haya perdido parte de su "magia"?

Lesnar NO es un top mundial en wrestling, porque nunca llegó a ganar mundiales ni JJOO, pero fue un top a nivel USA (como Koscheck o Randleman), llegando a ganar la NCAA en la categoria pesada en 2000.

Es muy buen wrestler te lo aseguro, y muy valorado entre los expertos USA (sigo hablando de lucha, no de pressing catch). Con respecto a si ha perdido su magia... No lo creo, mira lo que tardó en llevar a Mir al suelo. La gente que llega a tener un nivel tan alto jamás pierden ese toque.

PD: ¿Queréis saber quién es el próximo gruesler que dará que hablar en mma? Apuntad este nombre: Mo Lawal (entrena con Hendo en el Team Quest, de lucha libre olimpica, 84kg)

Tampoco creo que sea tan "malo" por perder en su debut por sumisión contra Mir. Era lo previsible.
Opino que aún no hemos visto su potencial en MMA. Si ahora se centra en entrenar suelo creo que hace lo correcto....ya veremos!!

Yo no creo que sea malo, sino incompleto. Mi pregunta era mas por curiosidad de saber que tal curriculum tenia como luchador para ser considerado un top del wrestling ACTUAL como decia algun forero y en la entrevista. Esta claro que el toque no lo ha perdido, como la mayoria de luchadores de MMA yankis que abandonaron la competicion de lucha en el high school, pero habra que ver que tal adapta su potencia al resto de distancias de combate

Nada nada olvidate que top del wrestling actual no lo es ni de coña. Más que nada porque hace mucho que ni siquiera compite en lucha. En su peso los mejores americanos hoy en dia son Rowlands y Mocco. Lo que sorprendia de Lesnar es que para ser un peso pesado su agilidad y velocidad eran asombrosas. De hecho aún lo son, ya lo verás con el tiempo créeme

Lesnar es un tipo muy rápido y ágil a pesar de tener tanta masa encima, imagino que el próximo combate a lo mejor sale más ligero de peso no se me da a mi, aunque por potencia pocos le superan
