Brett Rogers has asked and now he shall receive. The undefeated EliteXC heavyweight prospect hailing from Minnesota called out Kimbo Slice after the EliteXC/CBS show in which both men fought.
Rogers asserted during the post fight press conference that Kimbo had lost his fight to James Thompson due to tap out and that the popular Bas Rutten protege was garbage. A melee ensued and the two men had to be separated by security. Days later Rogers' camp issued an open letter stating their case for a match up with the much hyped internet sensation and now their wish has been granted.
EliteXC Vice President and matchmaker Jared Shaw informed Fightline.com that the two men will indeed meet in October to play out their rivalry. The fight will "more than likely" take place on CBS but will depend on other variables such as timing and platform availability.
"It depends on the timing of which platform we're on that month and week and what works for Rogers and Kimbo, but they've got each other," said Shaw. "This fight will happen in October."
A KJ Noons vs. Nick Diaz co-main event is being discussed for the October card for obvious reasons. The rivalry between Noons and Diaz also runs deep and has become a family affair with the infusion of Carl Noons and Nate Diaz.
The two families recently tussled after Diaz was brought into the cage to formally challenge Noon's after his victory last Saturday over Yves Edwards. Security had to step in to separate the two sides who had a second run in outside of their hotel a couple of days later.
Needless to say, this potential card will have a lot of bad blood and should bring in great numbers as a CBS event. We'll have more on this as it develops.
