Nick Diaz will not be fighting Mach Sakurai. At least not in the July Dream card, as EliteXC has decided to not let him fight due to "contractual obligations'. Apparently EliteXC has other plans for Diaz and the July date might conflict with their plans.

'I was happpy to be fighting Sakurai and hoping to get back there to Japan where they have you fight in a ring and there seems to be more respect for the art of MMA. I hope they will still have me back soon to fight him (Sakurai) for the belt..' -Diaz

Our good friends over at DreamFighters are reporting that Mark Hunt has signed with DREAM to participate on the DREAM.5 card. No word on who he'll be facing though. Hunt was apparently offered elite heavyweight Sergei Kharitonov, but turned that fight down due to a lack of proper training time for an opponent of Kharitonov's magnitude.

Hunt, a very talented K-1 fighter is 5-3 in straight MMA matches against top talent. He's defeated the likes of Mirko Cro Cop and Wanderlei Silva. Hunt is coming off of a first round submission loss to Fedor Emelianenko in his last MMA match up back in December of 2006.

Below is a look at how the DREAM.5, July 21 card is shaping up:

Ese Khari deberia haber firmado con Dream.

Por cierto, el Sakurai vs Diaz, parece que tendra lugar en el Dream 6 en septiembre.

Black Mamba participara tambien en este evento:

Add Kultar "Black Mamba" Gill to the growing list of fighters competing at Dream 5 on Monday, July 21 at the Osaka Dome in Osaka, Japan. Gill's trainer, Bill Mahood, confirmed the striker's inclusion on the card. No opponent has been named.

The fight will be Gill's first since the 6-foot British Columbia prison guard dropped a unanimous decision to Tatsuya Kawajiri in the opening round of the Dream Lightweight Grand Prix back in March.

Last-minute bout announcements have become common practice for the Dream promotion. Gill's Revolution Fight Team teammate, Denis Kang, was given less than three weeks notice for each of his two fights inside the Japanese organization. Informed in May that he would be on the Dream 5 card, Kang remains in the dark regarding who he will face next month.

A Black Mamba desde que vi un video sobre él, le tengo un respeto de cojones, el tio no se puede dedicar en exclusiva a pelear, y tiene que compaginarlo con su trabajo, y aún asi está en la élite. Admirable.

Hay mucha gente que dice que Kid va a sufrir de lo lindo con Benavidez...

Mamba es un tio la que admiro precisamente, por eso que comentas.

Ojo, que Benavidez este no es manco, y su record que puse en el primer post, no esta nada mal.

Lo del Shibata vs Akiyama, era cuestion de tiempo, ya que Shibata reto a Akiyama en el Akasaka Fight Festival... y me da que va a encadenar su quinta derrota consecutiva.

Si se suma los posibles participantes se queda un cartel bastante completo.

Para mi lo de siempre, cruces entre ligeros impresionantes pero las demas categorias flojean a muerte (los cruces). Falta sangre nueva a Dreams a mi modo de ver, competitivamente se esta quedando 1 o 2 peldaños por debajo de UFC hoy por hoy. Además que se ha llevado a tops de japon a UFC/WEC.

De todos modos no me canso de los ligeros q tiene fichados jeje

JLB esta lesionado y no participara en Dream 5, ante Mark hunt como se habia dicho. Aun asi, parece que Hunt participara en el evento:
