According to Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White, just because Chris Weidman won’t be fighting at UFC 184 in Los Angeles, that does not mean Vitor Belfort won’t be also.
It was revealed on Friday that the UFC middleweight champion had suffered an injury to his ribs during training and he would not be able to defend his title against Belfort on Feb. 24 at the Staples Center.

But in a quote given to “Inside MMA” on AXS TV, White said that doesn’t necessarily mean that “The Phenom” won’t still enter the Octagon.
“It has been a crazy week. Vitor [Belfort] isn’t off the card yet,” White said. “I’m still working on options.”
Belfort has been out of action since UFC Fight Night “Belfort vs. Henderson” in 2013, so it could be beneficial for the former champion to get a fight under his belt in preparation for his future matchup with Weidman.
If the UFC is unable to find a replacement for Weidman, Ronda Rousey and Cat Zingano have been pegged to fill the void left at the top of the card.
