Richard Schaeffer anuncia el Chávez Jr. vs “Canelo” Álvarez



Después de muchas especulaciones con anuncios y desmentidos en los últimos meses sobre un posible enfrentamiento entre los dos prospectos mexicano Chávez Jr. y el “Canelo” el director ejecutivo de la promotora Golden Boy Promotions Richard Schaeffer ha sorprendido al anunciar que una de las grandes peleas del próximo año la protagonizarían los mexicanos Chávez Jr y Álvarez. Shaeffer también comunicó que la pelea será televisada en PPV y que espera que sea un éxito como lo fue la pelea del pasado sábado entre Mayweather y Ortiz.
Sobre los combates del sábado afirmó Erik Morales ganó su cuarto título mundial en diferentes divisiones al doblegar a Pablo Cano y regresó a la cima del boxeo, mientras Floyd Mayweather Jr sigue como el mejor al noquear a Víctor Ortiz.
De cerrarse la pelea sería un duro golpe una vez más para los aspirantes a los cinturones mundiales que poseen estos dos jovenes boxeadores, Chávez Jr. posee el cinturón del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo (CMB) y están en esperando la oportunidad prometida ”El Veneno” Rubio y Sergio “Maravilla” Martínez por lo que el presidente del CMB el mexicano José Sulaimán ya insinuó un posible combate entre ambos.
El título superwelter del CMB en poder del “Canelo” está esperando disputarlo “El Perro” Angulo entre otros aspirantes, de confirmarse la pelea Chávez Jr. vs Canelo ambos púgiles podrían realizar alguna defensa voluntaria frente a un púgil a la carta para de esa forma llegar invictos al enfrentamiento.

Jhonny González acepta pelear con Arce

El mexicano Jorge “Traveso” Arce lleva tiempo pidiendo medirse a su compatriota el actual campeón pluma del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo (CMB) Jhonny González y según este último puede acceder a defender su cinturón frente a Arce.

Como lo he dicho desde que conseguí el título, mi idea es enfrentar a los mejores del mundo y el “Travieso” creo que lo es. Ojalá Top Rank y Zanfer se pongan de acuerdo con mis promotores para realizar esta pelea”.

“Maravilla” Martínez estaría dispuesto a bajar a 150 libras para pelear con Pacquiao



El actual campeón Diamante y Emérito del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo (CMB) el argentino Sergio “Maravilla” Martínez peleará el próximo el 1 de octubre contra Darren Baker, Martínez se encuentra preparando la pelea y en declaraciones a Radio La Red afirmó que estaría dispuesto a bajar a 150 libras para pelear con Pacquiao si fuese necesario. En más de una ocasión Martínez ha manifestado su interés de medirse a Pacquiao pese a reconocer que lo veía casi improbable debido a la diferencia de peso entre ambos, Pacquiao pelea en las 147 libras y Martínez en las 160 libras, incluso Martínez afirmó hace tiempo que no podría bajar más de las 154 libras por lo que veía más probable que un púgil como Mayweather subiese a superwelter ya que Pacquiao no podía subir más y él no podía bajar, por lo que sorprenden sus últimas declaraciones al afirmar que podría bajar a las 150 libras en caso de cerrarse la pelea.
El argentino cree que si Pacquiao firmó una pelea con Margarito en las 150 libras hace un año podría intentar convencer al filipino para que vuelve a cerrar una pelea en ese peso máximo aunque Pacquiao no llegase al peso máximo como ocurrió con el mexicano, Martínez considera que con una preparación de unos 4 meses podría perder el peso necesario para llegar a las 150 libras.
Mayweather tras imponerse a Shane Mosley al ser pregutando sobre su próximo rival afirmó que podría ser Martínez pero una vez que pasaron la semanas el estadounidense no volvió a hablar sobre el argentino, ni si quiera antes de firmar con Ortiz el argentino fue una de la opciones.
Martínez lleva tiempo buscando una súper pelea con Mayweather o Pacquiao pero después del trato recibido por el CMB y debido a su edad 36 años debería buscar los cinturones de otros organismos del medio o subir al supermedio situación más lógica, aunque bien es cierto que no cobraría lo mismo que en una pelea con Floyd o Manny.

David Haye: I Don't Think Vitali Really Wants To Fight

Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye will postpone his retirement after finally admitting that he never followed through on his words in his last fight with Wladimir Klitschko.

Haye, 30, talked up his chances of unifying the heavyweight division against the younger Klitschko brother only to lose his title in a whimper, citing a toe injury for hampering his ability to box to his full potential.

Speculation had mounted that Haye would delay his retirement and after speaking to German newspaper Bild in the last couple of weeks, the ‘Hayemaker’ has finally opened up to British reporter Gareth A. Davies of The Daily Telegraph.

"I wasn’t firing on all cylinders, for whatever reason,” Haye admitted.

“It wasn’t the real me in there, and you always want to go out showing everybody what you really have.

"So if I go out there and give 100%, I know I have a good chance of beating Vitali.

“The only way I can prove that I can do what I said before I faced Wladimir, is go out there and redeem myself in my mind against Vitali. At 100% fit, you would see the real fighter I have in me out there.

“I’d still fight Wladimir again, too. Vitali and Wladimir are the only two fights on the planet I would break my retirement plans for.

“It’s not about money for me. I know I underachieved against Wladimir.”

There has been continuing statements from WBC champion Vitali Klitschko that he wants to ‘knock out Haye’ for comments he made about the brothers before the July fight with Waldimir and he is the favorite to face the Briton in what would be a do or die fight for Haye’s boxing reputation.

"Vitali said after the Adamek fight that he wanted to fight me now. But I think it’s all talk. He realized he was not going to get any headlines for knocking out Adamek, so he threw my name out there. For some reason I don’t really think he wants to do it. If they contact us, and talk to us and are serious about it, I’ll consult my team." Source

Rios on Cotto-Margarito II undercard

Brandon Rios will face an opponent to be determined on the undercard of Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito II.
Unbeaten WBA lightweight titleholder Brandon Rios, of Oxnard, Calif., has been added to the undercard of the rematch between WBA junior middleweight titleholder Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito that will be televised on HBO Pay Per View from New York's Madison Square Garden, Top Rank Inc. Promoter Bob Arum told RingTV.com on Sunday.

The 25-year-old Rios (28-0-1, 21 KOs) will be after his 11th win in a row, his 10th consecutive knockout during that run and his fourth straight stoppage against an opponent to be determined during his debut at The Garden.
Rios and Margarito are both trained by Robert Garcia.
"This is great, because I get to fight in the same place and on the same card where my buddy, Antonio, is fighting at. My boy Margarito is going to be fighting on there, so that's going to make it easier for Robert. We'll both be in the same gym training for the same day, so it's great," said Rios, who was originally scheduled to fight on Dec. 10.
