Froch-Groves tickets go on sale and 18,000 are sold in first eleven minutes
Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn is looking forward to another sold out event featuring his super-middleweight star Carl Froch. Earlier this year “The Cobra’s” rematch with Mikkel Kessler did huge business and Hearn has just Tweeted how Froch’s upcoming November 23rd clash with fellow Brit George Groves has sold over 18,000 tickets, this just eleven minutes after going on sale. The fight will take place inside what is almost certainly going to be a crammed Manchester Arena (now named Phones 4U Arena) next month. Groves, unbeaten at 19-0(15) has stated how he believes he has the beating of the vastly experienced Froch and that he has known for some time he has what it takes to upset the IBF/WBA 168-pound king.
Of added interest to the big card is the news that Anthony Crolla has just been signed by Hearn’s promotional outfit. Crolla, 26-4-1(9) and coming off that big win over Gavin Rees in June, will face a TBA on the Nov. 23rd show. The Manchester Evening News has a piece that suggests Crolla may face recent Ricky Burns challenger (and victim of that controversial draw) Raymundo Beltran. That would be some excellent supporting feature to the main event.
