Canelo vs May gate breaks 20 million

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has announced that Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) continues to build on their record-cracking gate figure. Two months ago, Mayweather-Canelo broke the $19 million mark and shattered the previous record of $18,419,200 - set in 2007 by Oscar De La Hoya vs. Mayweather. On Thursday it was revealed that Mayweather-Canelo, as it stands right now and confirmed by the MGM Grand, has generated a gate of $20,003,150.
The fight takes place on Saturday night at the MGM in Las Vegas, with Showtime Pay-Per-View carrying the event.
