Declaraciones de Lorenzo Fertitta:

Nick Diaz will not be cut for failing his UFC 143 drug test, says Lorenzo Fertitta.

Diaz tested positive for marijuana at the weekend’s fights and, bar a successful appeal, will be suspended for up to a year. The failed test has cancelled a Carlos Condit rematch and postponed any possible showdown with Georges St. Pierre.

Fertitta said the UFC would stand by Diaz during an impromptu Q&A session on Twitter today.

“[I] really like the kid [he] just needs to get it together. I'm a sap for real fighters,” he posted in reply to one enquirer who wanted to know whether Diaz had ‘pushed it too far’ with his latest misdemeanour.

Diaz will find out what sanction he faces in April when the Nevada State Athletic Commission convenes its next general meeting.

Pavia and the UFC are engaged in litigation against each other over what the UFC claims is his misappropriation of confidential UFC documents and contracts on behalf of the Bellator organisation.

- Fertitta expressed interest in bringing both Hector Lombard and Alexander Shlemenko. They are two of the bigger names on the Bellator roster.
